How to get started in Porn

I have been in porn since the 90’s. So, seen some stuff 🙂

You’re sure you want to? Once you do it, you can’t go back and it can fuck up your real job. Still sure? Fine.

This article assumes that you are being fully face out and a fully professional attitude and want to working up to GG or BG or doing fairly serious fetish/BDSM.

If you have questions, (e.g “this guy contacted me and said…… is that Ok?”), you can ask me direct on Twitter @PaulJonesAIR. Happy to help people have a good experience getting into the industry.

ESSENTIAL STEP 1 : Create a new user account on your PC or Laptop, and get a new phone for this business.

It is essential to keep your “real life” and this life separate. Even when you are open, your family probably don’t want to wade through all your promo clips of you fucking, and you don’t want any stalker type fans to start invading your family. (Yes, and I was involved with helping the police deal with him).

Yes, you can toggle between accounts in software on some devices, but if I had £1 for every time someone went “oh, shit”, I’d be able to gold plate my boat 🙂

Can I be in porn now? Nope.

STEP 2 : Create a new Twitter for this life.

In the circle image : your face.

The banner/header image : you, dressed. Be sexy, but clothed, and in more than lingerie. (Twitter is relaxed about what is tweeted, but strict rules re your Profile. Because children can see your Profile, even if – and you have, haven’t you – marked your tweets as “Mature”).

Your bio can be simple : “I’m starting in porn, can you help?” You’ll revisit this later.

Make sure you set that all your tweets are for mature audiences.

Start posting selfies, photos taken by friends. Show your face, tits etc. Women, don’t need to post full porn, but guys absolutely have to. Guys, dick pics have no energy. Face and 3/4 (face to thigh), have big dick energy.

Once you have posted a bunch of stuff that would make people think “they’re serious”, start following other people in the business. Cunning tip if you are UK – follow me @PaulJonesAIR then look at who I follow and start following all of them.

Step 3 : Get Certed

This means an STI Certificate that shows you do not have any STIs.

Industry professionals get tested every month.

People do work without them, but in that case the strict rule is condoms for penetration, and NO sharing toys. But, TBH, if you’re serious, get certed monthly and have sex the way it was meant to had 🙂

Step 4 : Paperwork

Yes, paperwork.

You will need to hand over paperwork to everyone who hires you to be in porn, and everyone you collaborate with.

Porn is hard to sell, unless you have paperwork.

IMPORTANT : The single biggest mistake new people make when they make their own content or collab, is not doing the paperwork.

If you are performing, this is what you will be asked for, (and if you are collaborating, it’s what you need to get from your co-performers).

Even if you are working with your actual partner, DO THE PAPERWORK. If you split up, and you don’t have your partners paperwork for scenes, those scenes become unsellable.

ID : Normally Passport and Driving License are standard, though sometimes Passport only suffices. If you don’t have a passport, get one now. Ditto DL, but if you lack the DL just tell the producer at time of booking and make it his decision.

They will want to photograph it, and photograph you holding it. the “Mickey Mouse shot – you hold both, by your ears…”.

Model Release : A document that basically says “I know this is a porn shoot, I’m cool with the content being all over the Internet and everywhere”.

Some people will have multiple ones because some platforms want their own documents signed.

Cert : That cert from Step 3. You show this to your fellow performers, but no one takes any copies.

Step 5 : Buy your Domain Name

Platforms come and go. Even Only Fans suddenly decided that it was going to ban porn in 2021.

If you own your domain, you can use that as your brand.

You can have domain MyPorn.com and set it so anyone who goes to is sent to Onlyfans.com/myporn to actually buy your stuff. And if one day OF dies, you put your stuff up on Fansly and simply change the redirect.

I use GoDaddy. Buy your name, say YES to privacy and NO to everything they try and upsell you.

Can I be in porn now? YES!!!

STEP 5 : Start being in porn !!!

Be True To Yourself

To start, have the sex you want to have, and be filmed having the sex you want to have.

Push your envelopes later, in your own time. I’m still trying new things now that I haven’t been ready for before, and I’ve been here for DECADES!

Camming

Just sign up and start. Chaturbate, Stream Mate and AdultWork

Some people love it, some hate it, see how you go. Most women in the industry do some camming, but while some go on and make it rain, others just do booked shows for fans. Do what you find works for you.

Paid Shoots

Guys, you don’t have to worry about being offered paid work at this stage.

Women, you’re new, you’ll be asked by good guys and bad. Bad, because you’re new, and they will rush in.

The bad ones will lowball you on money, spin you lies about collabs, try to turn a solo toys scene into a BJ (if you’re up for that, just charge them. He’s horny, he’ll probably pay) or simply just fuck about and waste your time.

Serious people will have social media and sites.

Never travel for people you can’t confirm bona fides with. You can take a bit more risk that they will mess you around if they say they will book location near you.

If you want my opinion on a booking, ask me.

Platforms

This is where you sell YOUR porn. Which, for everything you can’t make at home, by yourself or with your partner, means Collaborations

Collaborations

These are great – a few performers get together for day and fuck and film each other.

But, you’re new. People will try and take advantage. The big thing to avoid is single guys suggesting POV or tripod based collaboration. Just say no. It’s very hard to make good content that way, so when you want it, YOU want to be choosing a guy you know already, who can deliver.

What you SHOULD do, is reach out to people YOU want to fuck and tell them you want to collab with them.

See longer article about how to collab effectively.

Escorting

So, not porn but plenty do both.

Escorting is higher risk than porn – 121 with strangers, yes, stuff happens. But, the money is good, so, bit like other careers that include serious physical risk, armed forces, police etc.

IF you are going to escort, you do want some POV and tripod content because you put it up as “me and client” video on AdultWork. You should still choose guys who you can see have industry track record. Yes, yes I am available 🙂

Gang Bang Parties

Some filmed, some not. Usually very well organised and safe, and can be good regular money. But you have to like the loads of guys sex.

Step 6 : Sales, Marketing and Business

Yeah, making porn is fun and all, but have you smelled the aroma of cash sales flooding your bank account?
